The green backyard of Venice

WHAT TO VISIT IN SACILE?

GIARDINO DELLA SERENISSIMA

Known as "Il Giardino della Serenissima" or the "Garden of the Serenissima," Sacile offers a taste of Venice’s charm. In the 16th century, wealthy Venetian families built beautiful villas and estates here, easily accessible by boat along the Livenza River. The city earned its nickname due to its Venetian atmosphere, with lush gardens and parks, an indulgence not possible in space-constrained Venice.
Sacile is perfect for a half-day visit, where you can stroll through picturesque streets and cross quaint bridges while enjoying the green scenery. The weeping willows lining the canals create a peaceful, scenic atmosphere.

PALAZZO RAGAZZONI

From the main square, Piazza del Popolo, it’s a short walk to landmarks like the Palazzo Ragazzoni. This historical residence, named after noble families who lived here, features the "Hall of the Emperors," where six stunning 16th-century frescoes depict Count Giacomo Ragazzoni’s travels across Europe. His journeys were both diplomatic and espionage missions aimed at boosting trade between Venice and other European powers.
Other noteworthy attractions include the Cathedral of San Nicolò and the smaller Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, named after a Madonna statue portraying her grief over Jesus Christ.

EVENT: THE ANNUAL BIRD EXHIBITION

If you're in Sacile on the first Sunday after August 15th, you’re in for a treat. The Sagra dei Osei—the annual bird market and exhibition—offers a chance to admire birds of all shapes and sizes. It’s a long-standing tradition, and a delightful experience for visitors of all ages.
