San Vito al Tagliamento is a charming and elegant medieval town with in the center an old castle richly painted with colourful frescoes. which was once the second home of the Patriarch of Aquileia.

 

The old historical center of San Vito al Tagliamento is still surrounded by the medieval moat and also the three entrance gates have proudly awaited her visitors for centuries.

The beating heart is Piazza del Popolo square surrounded by strikingly beautiful and colourful buildings with elegant architecture. and colourful frescoes on their walls. The city is rich in religious monuments, including the main church, il Duomo, a true art gallery for its wealth of paintings and richly decorated marble altars, and the church of Santa Maria dei Battuti, a jewel of the Friulian Renaissance period. Where you can admire a beautifully painted ceiling and walls with frescoes about the life of Mary made by Pomponio Amalteo. La Chiesa dell'Annunciata is also decorated with a cycle of frescoes from the second half of the fourteenth century.

 

Finally, do not miss the beautiful small Italian theater "Giangiacomo Arrigoni", which has been completely restored in the original architectural Venetian Baroque style from the eighteenth century.

The fourteenth Jazz edition will be organized in San Vito al Tagliamento on Saturday 14, 21 and 28 March 2020. Jazz lovers can enjoy various concerts in the beautiful Arrigoni theater. Click on the picture to see the program.
